I am originally from Port St. Lucie, Florida. I have earned academic degrees from the University of Central Florida (B.S. and M.A., Communicative Disorders) and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (PhD, Speech and Hearing Science).

I am an Associate Professor at Illinois State University in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Currently, I teach coursework in the area of Acquired Neurogenic Cognitive-Communication Disorders with special interest in individuals with Cognitive Aging, Aphasia, Traumatic Brain Injury, Mild Cognitive Impairment, and Dementia.

I conduct research in the areas of cognitive aging, cognitive and language interventions, dual-task, speech in noise, virtual reality for rehabilitation, interprofessional practice, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. I am also exploring the functional neurophysiology of verb naming abilities in individuals with Aphasia in virtual reality environments.

I hold an SLP state license in Illinois, as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, scrapbooking, camping and travel, and attending theatre and performing arts shows.
