I am originally from Memphis, Tennessee. I have earned academic degrees from the University of Tennessee (B.A., Audiology and Speech Pathology), the University of Memphis (MA, Speech Language Pathology), and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (PhD, Speech and Hearing Science). I have taught and conducted research at a number of universities including Midwestern University, located in Downers Grove, Illinois, Illinois State University, located in Bloomington, Illinois, San Jose State University, located in San Jose, California, and Indiana University located in South Bend, Indiana.

Currently, I research and teach coursework in the area of Acquired Neurogenic Cognitive-Communication Disorders with a special interest in Swallowing Disorders, as well as Motor Speech Disorders.

My research aims to use whole EEG neuroimaging techniques to explore the effects of stimulating mirror neurons to enhance swallowing, motor speech, and language skills in clinical populations. I am also exploring the functional neurophysiology of verb naming abilities in individuals with Aphasia in virtual reality environments.

I provide Corporate Communication Training, as well as evaluation and treatment services for Acquired Motor Speech Disorders, Swallowing Disorders, and Cognitive-Communication Impairments.

I hold SLP state licenses in Illinois, Georgia, and Tennessee, as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

In my free time, I enjoy gardening, cooking and traveling with friends and family, and going to see live music whenever possible.
